Someday, I’d really like to have a dog.
This doesn’t have anything to do with my pursuit of the creative life, except maybe that I’ve decided that in my ideal creative future, a dog must be included.
I realize that I may be romanticizing dog ownership, but doesn’t it seem so nice? A dog is like a friend who’s always glad to see you. A dog is always there for you.
That said, I also understand that having a dog, like having a child, involves a lot of responsibilities. Which would probably not be practical for me to take on right now, given that I’m sort of in the middle of a career change, and that I have no idea where I’ll end up living long-term. There’s also the fact that I’ve never had a dog before.
Still, that hasn’t stopped me from daydreaming about it. The other day, while procrastinating, I even took this Pedigree quiz to figure out which kind of dog I should get. I love that site, by the way, because at the end it allows you to search for nearby shelters where you can adopt the type of dogs that came up in your results. Isn’t that awesome? It was both really exciting and sad that I could enter my zip code and see the exact dog I could actually maybe adopt. Except that I can’t.
It’s okay. Some day I will adopt a dog, and when I do, it will be an Italian Greyhound, which both the Pedigree site and I have decided is the perfect type of dog for me. (It’s even good for people with allergies!) So I’m signing off this week with a photo of a super cute Italian Greyhound. Have a great weekend!
